Lab Digital is a Dutch agency specialising in composable commerce. With a heritage of developing platforms to serve multiple brands, markets and languages, the agency has employed MACH principles and technology since 2015.
Lab Digital’s services cover technology strategy, design and the delivery of composable commerce platforms. It has a noted reputation for understanding customers' business goals and translating those objectives into digital products for end-users that drive revenue and stand the test of time.
Built on a DNA that fuses an engineering culture with a passionately customer-centric approach, UX and design are hallmarks of Lab Digital’s work. By thinking strategically about technology and user experience, Lab Digital has become a central component of the digital transformation of a wide range of clients, characterised by long-term relationships.
Lab Digital also has a proven history in contributing to business technology movements. It has been prominent in the evolution of composable commerce, having been a keen contributor to many pivotal debates and a strong advocate of sharing its proprietary code repositories with the community.
Despite being one of the most recent additions to the MACH Alliance, Lab Digital has already built partnerships with many other Alliance vendors and SIs. As part of the Alliance, Lab Digital steers discussions on the intersection of MACH and open-source, pushing for further democratisation of these transformative technologies. Previous partnership work has yielded innovations such as Terraform providers for commercetools, Amplience and Contentstack.
Lab Digital has also developed its own MACH innovations. In an attempt to solve the lack of a standardised methodology and technical architecture to build MACH platforms, Lab Digital introduced its open-source deployment framework MACH Composer, which offers a suite of tools, principles and boilerplate modules.
The suite is technology-agnostic and supports single and multi-tenant MACH platforms out-of-the-box. MACH Composer is being used by agencies, SIs and customers and has proven to significantly reduce time spent on platform orchestration.
Looking to the future, Lab Digital is set to leverage its technical expertise and intense innovation on the MACH developer experience. Building on a history of open-source products, Lab Digital plans to develop tools to collaborate effectively across projects and teams and make these available to the public.
