The MACH Alliance Enterprise Technology Report
For six consecutive years, the MACH Alliance has delivered the industry's leading independent research on composable enterprise architecture. Our 2026 report, AI: From Pilot to Production, examines what separates organizations achieving measurable AI outcomes from those stuck in pilots. We surveyed 600 senior technology decision-makers at enterprise organizations across seven countries to answer one question: how does infrastructure determine AI success?
Why This Research Matters
AI is moving from experimentation to production. The organizations seeing real results have solved the integration challenge. This research reveals how architectural decisions determine whether AI investments scale or stall - and why the right foundation is critical as enterprise AI evolves toward multi-agent coordination.
2026 Research Findings: The 6X ROI Gap
The data reveals a stark division in business outcomes based on architectural maturity:
- 78% of fully composable organizations achieve measurable AI ROI vs. 13% in early planning stages – 6X more likely to see business results
- 99% see measurable results from AI – averaging 4 distinct ROI outcomes per organization
- 98% can support AI at scale vs. 33% in early planning stages
- 94% report composable architecture accelerates AI deployment speed
- 87% feel their architecture enables AI-driven business outcomes across revenue, efficiency, and customer experience

"The multi-agent future is arriving faster than most organizations realize. As specialized AI capabilities multiply, the competitive advantage goes to enterprises whose infrastructure lets those capabilities coordinate and share context.
Open, composable, connected architecture isn't just accelerating AI deployment today, it's determining which organizations can participate in the Agent Ecosystem that's rapidly emerging."

Methodology
This study surveyed 600 senior technology decision-makers at enterprise organizations with 5,000+ employees or $500M+ in global annual revenue. Respondents represent diverse industries including retail, e-commerce, financial services, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and professional services across North America (US and Canada), Europe (UK, Germany, France), and Asia-Pacific (Australia and Singapore).
The research was independently conducted by M·E·L Research in collaboration with the MACH Alliance.
