Challenge

NurseGrid knew they needed another platform to reach healthcare professionals (HCPs) in order to continue their goal of improving nurses’ lives. It was time to expand the largest social network and scheduling platform for HCPs onto a new platform: the smartwatch.

Strategy

The move to smartwatches involved defining clear goals, prioritizing critical features, and ensuring minimal development snags, along with a re-design fit for less screen real estate.

Method

To assist Nursegrid achieve their goals, they turned to Apply Digital who first dove into user research and combined these insights with user data to prioritize the most relevant and appropriate features to bring to the smartwatch.

With a legacy backend, it was important that NurseGrid implement an API-based front-end that would set them up for the future — the first step to fully transitioning to a MACH-based approach.

They also overcame a snag with tab views that have embedded navigation by writing a solution from scratch, thus solidifying processes for future smartwatch projects. Due to the complexity of testing smartwatch apps, they developed a QA (Quality Assurance) workaround to validate their designs and build.

MACH Alliance partnerships

NurseGrid is a unique social networking and scheduling app created for nurses, by nurses. As the top-rated app among nurses, NurseGrid boasts an average of 4.9 stars across more than 80,000 reviews.
