Challenge

Developing innovative solutions to address modern agricultural challenges, BASF Digital Farming sought to help farmers grow crops more efficiently and optimize yields.

Strategy

Based on a headless strategy and image recognition AI, BASF created the Xarvio SCOUTING app, enabling farmers to identify weeds, monitor insects, recognize diseases and check nitrogen levels, simply by taking a picture on their smartphone.

Method

BASF selected intive to develop both iOS and Android versions of the app, including user-friendly interfaces and the integration between back-end AI algorithms and front-end data input. The app is powered by the AWS Cloud.

BASF is a German multinational chemical company and the largest chemical producer in the world. Within BASF, the Xarvio Digital Farming unit develops technology for modern farming.
